Q: What are your hours of operation?
A. Wednesday – Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m, but depending on instructor availability, private lessons may be scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays and after hours.
Q: What days do you do Blow Your Own Glass? When can I pick up my piece?
A. Our studio is open for Blow Your Own Glass appointments Friday-Sunday with our first appointment starting at 11:00 AM and our last appointment starts at 6:00 PM, sometimes a little later depending on the number of people in your group. Your piece will be available for pick up 4 business days after the date you were in. You are able to pick up Blow Your Own Glass pieces Wednesday- Sunday from 11:30 AM- 6:00 PM. We sort Blow Your Own Glass items by the date that you were in the studio, please try and remember the date you were in so that we may better serve you.
Q: I bought a voucher from a deal site, where do I enter my voucher number?
A. When you are scheduling your appointment online, please enter your voucher number or code in the COMMENTS section. Please specify which site you purchased the deal through. If you do not cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance you forfeit your voucher. We only accept one voucher per person, per 6 month time period. Vouchers can not be combined. Tax and gratuity are not included in the voucher price and will be collected upon arrival. 18% gratuity will be included automatically.
Q: What happens if my piece breaks during the cooling process?
A. Sometimes pieces break in the annealer ( a process of heating and slow cooling in order to toughen and reduce brittleness.) or when we are cold working them, (smoothing the rough edges.) When this happens we will call you to let you know that we need to remake your piece and when it will be available for pick up. We will make it the exact same style and colors that you did.
Q: I have an idea of a vase (or other item,) that I want, but I didn’t see it in your gallery. Do you do custom pieces?
A. Yes! Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with the colors and dimensions you want. We will get back to you with a quote from the artist who best fits your needs. Our artists love to create, one of their favorite things is creating a custom piece and seeing the clients face light up when they made their idea into a work of art.
Q: What times and days are your classes?
A. We do not have a class schedule. We schedule classes by appointment only and try to give you the time and date you request as much as possible, but the glass blowing classes cannot occur during our Blow-Your-Own times, Friday – Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please call the studio to set up a private lesson: 206-557-7883 or email us at email@example.com.
Q: What can I make during my private glass blowing class?
A. You will usually make one or two pieces per person, and they are normally a large paper weight, small bowl, vase, or something similar. If you have something in mind, feel free to talk to your teacher about what you want to make. If you are doing private rental or instruction time, then you can work with our staff to make whatever is on your agenda.
Q: Should I bring anything to my class?
A. Please wear closed-toed shoes and a light, cotton shirt to the studio. If you have long hair, be sure it is tied back. We also suggest that you bring a pair of sunglasses and water/something to drink.
Q: Can my 14 year old daughter take lessons? She’s very mature.
A. Rainier Glass Studio requires a student to be at least 17 years of age, but we do make exceptions for this rule. If you are interested in having a child under age 17 take a class, we ask that you come in to speak with us and sign a waiver.
Q: Do the glass artists accept tips?
A. Yes, generally an 18% – 20% tip is considered an acceptable amount.
Q: Can I take pictures or video while I am at Rainier Glass Studio?
A. Of course you can! We encourage you to take pictures and video and always appreciate when we are tagged in your photos on Facebook and Instagram.
